Introduction
The Phoenix is the boss of the Forge of the Phoenix Map. He is one of the four Guardians of The Void. Each Guardian drops one of the four map pieces required to access The Shaper’s Realm.
Boss Fight
This fight begins once the player enters the arena and has no phases. The Phoenix deals extra Fire Damage. For every 10% Maximum Life that The Phoenix loses, the player will lose 1% Maximum Fire Resistance, up to a total of -9%. The arena summons small fire cyclones that spawn for a short period of time dealing Fire Damage. Small Phoenix minions are also summoned in this arena that shoot projectiles dealing Fire Damage.
Tips and Tricks
Here is a compiled list of some precautions one should consider before facing this challenge.
Fire Damage Mitigation:
- Ruby Flask – Reduces Fire damage taken by 20% during flask
effect. - Arctic Armour– Grants 8-13% less Physical Damage when hit and 8%-12% less Fire Damage
taken when hit - Purity of Fire – Increases the Maximum Fire Resistance and grants Fire
Resistances - Fortify – Grants 20% reduced damage taken from ALL damage types.
- “of Dousing” – Flask mod that removes Burning and grants Ignite immunity during flask effect.
Physical Damage Mitigation:
- Endurance Charges – Grants 4% Physical Damage reduction per Endurance Charge
- Basalt Flask – Grants 15% Physical Damage Reduction during flask effect.
- Granite Flask – Grants +3000 Armour during Flask Effect.
- Fortify – Grants 20% reduced damage taken from ALL damage types.
Miscellaneous:
- Quicksilver Flask – Increases movement speed during flask effects. Aids in dodging attacks.
- Stibnite Flask – Creates a smoke cloud, inflicting blind during flask effect. This makes it easier
to avoid damage since monsters can not target the player directly if blinded. - Movement Skill – Allows player to quickly dodge attacks.
- Decoy Totem – Taunts enemies causing them to target the totem instead of the player.
General Rule of Thumb:
- Kill all minions quickly as they can be overwhelming
- Try not to tank explosions
- Avoid these bad Affixes on maps
- Increased Monster Damage
- Unique Boss deals increased Damage/Attack/Cast speed
- Monsters deal Extra Damage as an Element
- Monsters have increased Critical Strike Chance/Multiplier
- Increased Monster Movement/Attack/Cast Speed
- Players cursed with Temporal Chains
- Increased Monster Life
- Unique Boss has increased Life/Area of Effect
Modifiers
Here are all of the modifiers that affect The Phoenix.
- Cannot Be Frozen, Knocked Back, Ignited, Chilled, or Frozen
- Temporary Taunt Immunity
- Extra Fire Damage
- 80% Less Curse Effectiveness
- 40% Fire/Cold/Lightning Resistance
- 25% Chaos Resistance
Abilities
These are all of the attacks that the Phoenix uses. With the use of these gifs, you are able to see the animation of each attack to better familiarize yourself with boss mechanics
The Phoenix slashes with his weapon when you are in close range.
The Phoenix charges up his weapons and unleashes a short ranged cyclone attack. This attack is very fast.
The Phoenix charges up his body for four seconds and unleashes a large, lethal explosion dealing massive Fire Damage. This attack lowers the players Fire Resistance by -50% on hit.
Small Phoenix minions spawn from the sides of the arena. These fire small projectiles at the player dealing Fire Damage. The less health that the Phoenix has, the more frequent these minions will spawn.
Small fire like tornadoes spawn from the sides of the arena dealing Fire Damage.
- Player loses 1% maximum fire resistance per 10% boss health loss
